Candidates for Treasurer:
Wanda Abeyllez:
Greetings, everyone. For those who don’t know me, my name is Wanda Abeyllez, and I am running to be your next Union Treasurer.
Electing a union treasurer is about far more than just balancing books; it’s about establishing a foundation of trust, transparency, and financial stability. The role of Treasurer requires an unwavering commitment to detail and organization. In my previous positions, I have gained hands-on experience that directly translates to the meticulous work needed for this job. I am highly proficient in using spreadsheets and financial tools to track complex budgets and will ensure everything is accounted for.
My commitment, however, goes beyond just numbers. I genuinely enjoy advocating for people, and I understand that every dollar we spend must serve our members.
My experience organizing successful events and fundraising initiatives means I know how to bring people together and general necessary resources. This background has taught me the importance of making sure that every expenditure, from contract negotiations to member services, is strategically sound and directly benefits you, the people who make this system run. My track record shows that I am a dedicated and organized professional who can manage our union’s resources with precision and care. We need a treasurer who doesn’t just manage the money, but who maximizes its impact!
Furthermore, I pride myself on working well with others. The Treasurer must collaborate closely with the President and the Executive Board. I am committed to making those partnerships seamless and productive, ensuring our finances are always aligned with our union’s mission and goals. Our union deserves a treasurer who is as passionate about its mission as they are about accountability.
I humbly ask for your vote for Union Treasurer. Let’s work together to secure a financially strong and transparent future for all members of the United Court System.
Thank you.
Paul Friedman:
Candidate statement
Thank you for your time and consideration. My name is Paul Friedman and I have been working for the Unified Court System since 2003. I started off in White Plains City Court and like the rest of us kept taking tests to work my way up. I believe I am the best candidate for this position because having over two decades of experience in the Unified Court System and the 9thJD union I have not only acquired the experience but also the necessary skills this position requires. Currently I hold the title of Senior Court Clerk as a supervisor in Yonkers City Court and I am also the delegate for Yonkers City Court in the 9thJD union.
Besides my tireless advocacy for our members and my co-workers, I have made sure that when the opportunity arises, I am there for our union.
I have sat on multiple committees charged with reviewing our benefits. As such, I have evaluated as well as voted for multiple improvements and increases to our benefits, all the while keeping in mind the fiscal responsibility we have to keep our union financially healthy.
In my current title, I supervise the Traffic and City Codes department in Yonkers City Court. As part of my daily responsibilities, I account for all the monies taken in by the Traffic, City Code, and Criminal departments. This requires a daily review of reports, depositing checks, cash, and settling credit card machines. In addition, on certain occasions, I approve transfers of funds between accounts for the Court.
I believe this gives me the unique and well-versed experience as well as qualifications to sit as the treasurer of our union. I would continue to express my concerns and actively listen to those of our members. Additionally, I would leverage my financial expertise to assist the union in navigating the future of our financial well-being as we move forward.
As our union’s Treasurer, I will ensure forward progress, thoughtful consideration, and financial stability. I hope we can accomplish these goals together with your support and your vote.
Tim Hugelmeyer:
Hello fellow Union Members,
Some of you know me by name, some by face, for the others, let me introduce myself. I’m Tim Hugelmeyer and I am running for treasurer.
A little about me:
I started my career as a Court Officer in Family Court in 1998. After 7 years I promoted to Senior Court Clerk. I was asked to stay in Queens Family and or the next 10 years worked mostly in neglect and abuse parts and other than my regular part duties, I assisted in the training of new clerks and helped introduce UCMS when it was brought to Family Court. I transferred to Manhattan Family in 2015 and continued in the same roles there.
In 2016 I was lucky enough to land a spot here in White Plains. I started in the Guardianship part, did a year long stint as Supervisor in the Criminal Calendar Office and currently work as the SCAR and Article 9 Clerk.
A few years back I was asked to get involved with the Union as a Director. I fully enjoy helping in that capacity, serving on many committees and brainstorming on ways to improve the Union Benefits. But I feel I have more to give. Therefore, I am running for the role as Treasurer to give greater assistance to the Union leadership and to my Colleagues.
With that, I am asking for your support in voting for me.
Thank you all for your time.
